@cbsnews: Becky Drury, a teacher at Silver Rail Elementary who was shot and wounded during the deadly mass shooting in Bend, Oregon, shared a statement recalling what she remembered from the shooting. "I turned to shut the door behind me, but the shooter was already there. Before I could do anything more, he shot me at close range and I fell to the ground," Drury said. "I did the only thing I could do, which was to pretend to be dead in the hope he would not shoot me again." #oregon #school #teacher #teachersoftiktok

Nobody can expect a teacher to be a hero. I've seen trained Soldiers panic in combat situations.

DirectoraSanchez :

She should NOT have to be defending herself!!

Dahlia :

I have not seen a negative comment, if I do I will report.

Kam :

What was reported is that she shielded her body in front of the girl in the wheelchair, why I believe she feels like she even has to explain what happened to her. Which is so sad, she is a hero regardless.

gabby :

Teachers did not sign up to be first responders. I hate that she feels the need to defend her actions

doop :

Do other people not believe her or blame her? This isn’t her fault.

Anncee :

Every school needs to have a national guardsman stationed at it until we can get this wave of carnage under control. If we can send them out to guard a reflecting pool we can get them to protect our children!

$hannon :

The government needs to do something about this for once and for all. we are so tired of dead children.
