He rescinded his fish item in 2016. Back when he wrote Kitchen Confidential Friday was the last day before the weekend you could get a delivery from fishmongers. So Monday's "catch" was not super fresh. But the market has since demanded seven day a week fishmongers. I believe he quipped that "never buy fish on a Monday" would go on his tombstone because it was so often repeated and associated with him.
