I got laid off at Netflix in May after being there for almost 9 years (4 months before my wedding as well). Two days after they told me my role was being eliminated, my dad passed away. It was by far the worst period of my life. I feel like I grew up with Netflix and that my job would never be eliminated. Take the time to process & grieve, but also take the time to enjoy planning for your wedding. I just got married 2 weeks ago and was able to put so much thought and time towards the details of my wedding. I genuinely enjoyed wedding planning and the last few months of my bridal era (I 💯 would not have been able to do that if I had still been working at Netflix). My wedding day was absolutely perfect & truly the best day of my life. I think anchoring on your wedding can totally help you get through this period 🫶🏼.

Crazy how they continue increasing subscriptions but decide to lay off thousands of employees? 😭

This is probably the worst job market in the last 30-40 years. Even worse than the Great Recession of 2008

My BF was working for Paramount as an entertainment lawyer and was laid off. It's rough out there; it's been 3 years, and he still has not found a new job. A lot of companies are also laying off people or have a hiring freeze, which is contributing to him being laid off for so long

Laid off Oct 2025. WFH software engineer. Had a side business the entire time. Never going back to corporate. The elation you feel daily knowing you’re done with corporate for good is indescribable. No more Sunday scaries, I wake up whenever I want, every day feels like Friday, health dramatically got better, quality of life DRASTICALLY improved, I spend more time with my wife, the list goes on. I was at the pool last Tuesday at 11am sun shining bright on my face. Took a long time to build on the side, and I’m still building, but man life is so much better. No more teams meetings, no more Microsoft Outlook. Shall I go on? Everyone needs to plan their escape from corporate or you’ll suffer forever. Build on the side even though you’re mentally drained/exhausted or suffer forever. The choice is in our hands. Do you really want a corporation to dictate your life? Take control and go through the pain.

Hi Ashley! I was also laid off from Netflix and been following for a while, this video resonates so much because I think the hardest part of this layoff has been separating myself from that job I been having a hard time specially because of the company culture and the nature of the job :(

I’ve been in tech for 25 years, and there’s one thing I learned early on. Never work for a publicly held company

I experienced my bosses get laid off in 2 tech companies I’ve worked for — both the smartest and highly respected individuals. These layoffs aren’t personal for companies ; they’re cut throat. Choose yourself always

I’m sorry to hear that! Working in tech these days is definitely so difficult because it’s such an unstable industry due to AI and other factors. I work in tech and have been at my company for almost 5 years and have witnessed about 4 rounds of layoffs in the span of 2.5 years. It never feels like “I’m safe for a while” it’s always “I’m safe for now” ☹️
