Setting a higher income target and treating it as a necessity rather than a wish forces creative problem solving on how to close the gap. Writing down every possible way to make the additional money, without crossing ethical lines, activates a different kind of thinking than accepting the current ceiling. The target has to become a must before the brain starts working on how to reach it.
