Dude, the entitled Airbnb host syndrome is DEEP with this one, y’all. 😭😂 I have never seen so many people screw over their own customers and then act shocked when those same customers finally start calling them out online. LIKE, WHAT DID Y’ALL EXPECT?! 💀 They had their moment during COVID when Airbnb was booming, rushed out to buy properties, probably took on mortgages they thought would pay for themselves, and then got so carried away with the rules, fees, ridiculous expectations, and treating guests like inconveniences that they helped ruin the very experience they were profiting from. And NOW they’re mad because people are speaking up?! Girl, how else are they supposed to pay those mortgages if they’ve run off the customers?! 😂😭 You can’t treat hospitality like a hostage negotiation, provide a mediocre experience, nickel-and-dime people to death, and then play victim when customers decide they’re DONE. The entitlement is WILD. Y’all didn’t just lose customers. Some of y’all chased them straight into hotels. 💀😂

I just stayed at one and it was the first host to require NO cleaning. She said nothing was required because we were her guests. I'm rebooking with her again in the spring and shared her link with friends.

my rule of thumb for airbnbs has always been if there's even an inkling they might charge a cleaning fee I get my money's worth and I don't clean a God damn thing.

This is awesome for you, I haven’t booked on AirBnB since since I was charged a fee for not stripping a bed I didn’t use. I’m probably going to at least look at Airbnb while booking a hotel again, I’m sure I’m not alone. Thank you for being in the hospitality industry ❤️

It's beautiful! ! I travel for work and pleasure so this change was very needed . I pay a very expensive cleaning fee each time, and still get extra charges for simple things I missed 🙄. Now I have no stress . I'm a wind tech, not a pro cleaner!

Three years ago my family rented a house for a reunion. We paid a $1,200 cleaning fee but were required to restore the house to “the same condition we found it before our arrival”. We washed the sheets. We did our dishes. We vacuumed. We drove our trash to the municipal dump. The host claimed we wrecked their home and pocketed the cleaning fee. I will never ever use Airbnb again. Ever.

There are 100 other ways to get a leg up. You have a month to get creative. Amenities, interior design, annual passes to local attractions, etc. That’s what we do.
