Both contain methylfolate, iodine and 550 mg of choline per recommended daily dose, and both are formulated without iron so supplementation can be individualised. Choline is one of the nutrients I specifically check, alongside folate, iodine, B12 and the overall formulation. I also consider your diet, blood results, medical history, other supplements and whether you’re preparing for pregnancy, pregnant or breastfeeding. A prenatal can help fill nutritional gaps, but it doesn’t automatically cover every need. Iron and omega 3 intake, for example, may need separate consideration. And folate deserves some nuance. These products contain methylfolate, but “activated” doesn’t automatically mean better for everyone. Folic acid is the form with established evidence for preventing neural tube defects, so your preconception plan should account for that. The best prenatal for you needs to suit your nutritional requirements, tolerance and budget. A higher price alone doesn’t establish that it will produce better outcomes.
