I wash my hair with our fruit vinegars with an entire apothecary of wild botanicals. Almost all fruit leaves, herbs spices, veggies and fruits are good for your hair.. ya know, real food? So the sky is the limit when it comes to what to add to hair vinegar!! Before we had foaming petroleum based shampoos, the ancient Romans, Greeks and Egyptians were using vinegar! Since Shannon and I are vinegar makers, it was staring me right in the face.. like “hey, you should probably try this”. I have always used shampoo.. the thought of stopping was never on the radar..it was uncomfortable at first, I missed the foaming action, it didn’t feel like soap.. but when I finished, I noticed my hair is even more shiny and smooth. I liked the results.. I wanted more. It took my hair about 2 weeks to stop overproducing oil from a life time of stripping it with shampoo, but now my oil is regulated because it never gets stripped. Rather than applying hair masks and exogenous oils my scalp produces the proper amount of its natural oil. You might think vinegar would dry your hair but it is quite the opposite! Did you know your scalp is naturally acidic and has a microbiome?! I highly recommended shower filter so that the chlorine doesn’t damage the biome. What I’ve learned is that the shampoos I was using my whole life were harming my scalps natural environment. Just a reminder that my body actually does know what’s best… but only when I trust it to do so. I felt empowered by having done something unexpected. I had broken a life long paradigm. Started to ask “what else am I doing in life that I was conditioned to…what other patterns may not serve me? Where are my thoughts even coming from?..” It goes so much deeper than just shampooing my hair. And it is THAT shift in consciousness that allows my hair grow healthier, the MIND is literally the soil our hair grows from… It’s not the vinegar it’s the mindset around using the vinegar that granted growth. Want a fun recipe? 🌿💚 Comment “vinegar shampoo” below and we will send it straight to your DMs + tips on how to switch from shampoo to vinegar! #hair #shampoo #awapuhi #shampooginger #healthyhair
