Had a patient who coded multiple times, and it’s heartbreaking how complicated these situations can become when a patient’s wishes and medical/legal obligations don’t align. It really makes you think about autonomy, mental health, and how much we still don’t understand about these situations💔

It’s so soul crushing to see some of these people coming in to the ED. Contracted, G-tubes, non verbal, ostomies, wounds down to their bones just watching you and unable to even tell you how much pain they must be in body and soul.
