Not being able to collect colostrum isn’t an indicator of what your supply will be or what breastfeeding will be like for you! I got absolutely zilch trying to collect colostrum YET when on to exclusively pump for my daughter who wouldn’t nurse AND donated 1,000oz on top of that!

If it helps, with my first, I wasn’t able to collect any colostrum and I ended up being an over supplier once she was born. Now with my second, I only ever got at most .3 ml when I tried collecting, and we are now at 6 weeks breastfeeding and he’s gained a full pound per week for the last 4 weeks! Not sure if you have gone over it in previous videos, but making sure your flange size is correct is extremely important. Also, be careful with the massager, it can create inflammation to your breast tissue.

Don't stress about doing this!! once you give birth your body will start producing when you need it, don't stress yourself now before you give birth ❤️❤️

I couldn’t collect any until after my daughter was born, honestly it’s a waste to try so hard before baby arrives. Your colostrum will still be fed to baby, it’s the first milk you ever produce in the days following delivery, don’t stress yourself out trying now girl, some just get it before and some don’t.

I never got any colostrum out with a hand pump. Try hand expressing but drops are completely normal so don’t stress! The placenta detaching triggers your body to make milk. I had colostrum as soon as my baby came out! Our bodies are amazing and you just have to trust it💗

ive collected about four days so far, but i collect using an electric pump since i cant figure out how to hand express successfully! i use the lowest expression setting and set the vacuum to 3-5. i had a day where i got a ton out of one breast but none out of the other. each breast has a different supply and that supply will vary from day to day!

I could never get colostrum out using a pump of any kind, only by hand expressing! Colostrum is so extremely sticky the pump just can’t remove it. And you’ll literally only get drops at first

I couldn’t get any colostrum out before I gave birth but I ended up nursing for almost three years with my first! Don’t let this discourage you :)

Not having colostrum yet does not mean you will not be able to breastfeed. All bodies are different and you're doing your best.

Give yourself grace. Everyone’s body is different and some people can’t make colostrum while pregnant! If you’re trying to pump and hand express to kickstart labor use an actual pump instead of hand expression and a hand pump. I’ve been using my primary pump at the lowest massage mode for 3-5 minutes and then switching to expression mode. It might not feel the best but if you use nipple balm that you don’t need to wipe off (I use the earth mama one) on your flange inserts and on your nipple itself it can help with the discomfort! Try to make sure you are super super hydrated. If you are dehydrated your body will not be able to really produce anything. Even if you’re not getting anything out but you’re trying to self induce labor keep doing it. If you’re doing it because you really want to collect colostrum I’ve found the more you stress the less you produce. Pregnancy is so hard on your body as it is. If this is causing you stress or making you feel less than I would consider stopping. Remember colostrum supply during pregnancy does not equal colostrum and breast milk supply postpartum.

Look up hand expressing techniques here on TikTok. I can only hand express and actually collect some if my technique is perfect

It’s not mandatory to collect it, I never did with my first and successfully breastfed for 14 months, same with this pregnancy I’m not planning on collecting or trying, just latching when he’s out! 🫶🏻

I’m 36w about to be induced in a few days and so sad as well over my failed attempts to collect colostrum. Idk if it’s just too early for my body? It makes me feel like I’m failing as well when I already have to be induced

Be patient, mama! do you have an electric pump? I get the most with mine which has a stimulation mode to help get things going. I don't do heat but I do a minute massage beforehand. I also always collect right before bed because that's when I'm most relaxed. I find that more comes out if I eat oats and grains and stay extra hydrated 🩵

Ive literally never even tried to do this. Ive successfully breastfed two babies for 2+ years each, with zero supplementation. This means nothing as far your journey. Dont worry! The best thing i ever did was take a breastfeeding course before i had my baby.

if your up for pumping again i’d keep trying, most hand pumps have the stimulation first n then the strong suction and i do 5 minutes of the stimulation and then 10 minutes with the strong suction and sometimes it’ll look like there’s nothing but it’s not coming thru the duck bill and i have to beat the bottle that it collects in on a hard surface, i also use my heating pads for prob abt 10-15 minutes and i make them a little too hot so it’ll stay warm for longer
