Age and Chronology ​Extensive radiocarbon dating of organic matter found within the structures places their construction in the Late Neolithic period, roughly between 5300 and 5000 BCE (around 7,000 years ago). This means they predate both Stonehenge and the Egyptian Pyramids by millennia, making them part of one of the oldest and largest large-scale monumental landscapes ever recorded globally. Architectural Design ​Built primarily from local, unworked sandstone or basalt blocks (some weighing over 500 kg), a typical mustatil is a long, low-walled rectangle. Their architectural blueprint consists of: ​The Head: A solid stone rubble platform at one end, which often contains internal chambers or niches. ​The Base: A thick stone platform at the opposite end, usually featuring a narrow, single entranceway. ​The Courtyard and Long Walls: Two long, parallel walls connecting the head and base, enclosing a massive open-air courtyard. ​They vary drastically in scale, ranging from 20 meters to over 600 meters in length.
