Ok take a RISK ON ACTORS! how do we get footage if casting only hires A listers and influencers. It’s a different time casting needs to evolve with the times 😩 I’ve done student films and indies and they never gave me my footage

You know what’s also hard? Getting a copy of the work you do. I’ve done so many commercials and vo for Microsoft and Amazon, but i have no footage of it. So even when you get work, you can’t always put it in a reel.

This is so exhausting. How do you expect actors to gain experience and footage if you don’t even give them a chance? There are so many actors who are extremely talented and it shows in their self tapes, all they need is to be given the opportunity, but it seems like casting would rather hire influencers with zero acting ability. And the suggestion to get footage from student films is not great when so many are low quality, unpaid, and sometimes don’t even give you the footage. Give new actors a chance and create some stars instead of recycling talent and hiring influencers.

worked on a vertical film set where the lead actress confessed she's never acted before and got hired off a mediocre self-tape. I lost out on that lead despite having a pro reel and vertical experience. Proof that casting is 100% subjective.
