my teenagers were just talking about how much they miss our old house that they grew up in. It was the SMALLEST 2 bedroom house you could imagine. I couldn't wait to get a bigger house... and they revisit it in their memories 😭

This is why my parents ended up deciding to not sell their house, our entire childhoods were there and it would devastate all of us if they moved. They’ve been there 26 years now 🥺

My grandparents keep updating the house; the furniture, the carpet is now hardwood, the decor, and have repainted quite a few of their walls. Don’t get me wrong it all looks great, but it’s not the same. I love going into my dad’s old bedroom, the one room that hasn’t changed a bit since I was little. They always laugh when I tell them I don’t like that they are changing something “oh you’ve never liked change, you’ll like it once it’s done” but they don’t realize that sooner or later everything I remember about my childhood in that house won’t be the same.

My mom hated my childhood home. It was huge, and reminded her of the fact that she wasn’t able to have more children. She hated the layout. I miss how it felt when I was little. There were white tiles in the kitchen floor and some of them had purple flowers painted on them. 🩷

Our house is old and so imperfect. We start our new build next year…. I keep reminding my man that it’s the first home me and my daughter have had that was full of love and laughter instead of screaming and fighting. That one day when she’s older she will remember how cramped it was but how full of love. But we will just have to make the new house just as memorable I guess 🥺
