Pt 1 of David Lynch explaining transcendental meditation (hope you find this as relaxing as I do, I first watched it some years ago maybe at least 7 or 8 at this point… it led me to buy the book “Catching the Big Fish” which is a great little read. Don’t get too wrapped up in certain ideas here or any scientific appeals/claims, just focus on the core of it and flow with it. While I do practice a type of mantra/transcendental meditation just simply through humming most of the time, I also use other meditation techniques and see the value of mixing things up. Though from experience, this practice can take the idea of “getting high on your own supply” to a completely new level. The effects he discusses here are very much real: negativity lifts away and in its place peace, calm, and positivity grow. What he discusses after the intro is very much similar to the concepts of Plato’s Forms. I would highly encourage studying metaphysics and philosophy to ground your practice, as well as reading various religious texts. Reading, self-education, learning from others, and mentorship are all great ways to grow your practice. There are common pitfalls or issues that people sometimes experience. It’s helpful to have goggles and know a little bit about swimming before diving into the deep end.)
