Some older homes here in the states have the double taps. Most have been converted to one but I have seen them. I have seen carpet in the bathroom in dated homes as well. Also, all my closets have pull string lights in them. It’s not that weird. The fact that you don’t have outlets in the bathroom would confuse most Americans but knowing your voltage is there than ours makes it make sense.
