A 39-year-old former sheriff’s deputy in Texas will spend several decades behind bars for kill*ng his disabled girlfriend, sh00ting the 46-year-old woman in the temple with his service weapon & then trying to make the d3ath look like a suic*de. A jury in Denton County on Tuesday found Jay A. Rotter, a 1-time deputy with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, guilty of 1 count of murd3r in the 2020 slaying of Leslie Hartman. According to a news release from the Denton County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, the same jury that convicted Rotter in Hartman’s fatal s00oting also sentenced him to 30 years in a state correctional facility. The Denton Police Department previously revealed that Rotter called 911 in August 2020 & reported that Hartman suffered a self-inflicted gunsh0t wound inside her home in the 2400 block of Robinwood Lane. Once there, first responders found Hartman d3ad. She & Rotter were the only individuals at the home at the time Hartman suffered the fatal gunsh0t wound. Hartman, a popular artist in the area, was paraplegic & used a wheelchair to get around daily due to injuries suffered in a car crash when she was younger. About a month after the sh00ting, investigators took Rotter into custody and charged him with Hartman’s murd3r. “We are shocked and saddened about the incident & arrest of Jay Rotter,” Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn said in a statement released after the arrest. “We believe in the criminal justice process & the truth will prevail.” Rotter joined the sheriff’s office in 2005 & worked his way up to becoming a detective in the narcotics unit until he was fired in 2020 following the sh00ting. Court documents provided additional details about the evidence that led detectives to Rotter. The most inculpatory evidence came from data found on Rotter’s cellphone, particularly messages transcribed on the Discord app at about the same time Hartman was kill3d. “I TOLD HER. LISTEN. 1 SH0T ONLY. THEY CALL IT IN AFTER & THEY CAN,” he reportedly wrote in a message that was never sent but later recovered from his message drafts. “I just sent a 9 millie in this f—— hippy.” At about the same time, Rotter also sent several people messages via Discord of himself holding his service weapon. Before her d3ath, at 10:32 p.m., Hartman sent a text message to a friend that also seemed to incriminate Rotter, the Express reported. She reportedly wrote that Rotter, who had been living with her for about 6 months, was “in a mood.” She also indicated that Rotter had been using dr*gs & was “falling around the house.” During the trial, Rotter’s defense attorneys argued that the messages he wrote on the night of Hartman’s d3ath were about a milk bottle he had sh0t in the backyard. They also emphasized that there was no history of DV between Hartman & Rotter. The jury reportedly only deliberated for about 3 hours before voting to convict Rotter. #truecrime #crimetiktok #crimejunkie #truestory #truecrimetiktok #crimetok #crime #murder #police #truecrimepodcast

Rebecca Watts (3 June 1998 – 19 February 2015) was a British student from Bristol who was murder3d in 2015 at the age of 16. In November 2015, her step brother, Nathan Matthews, was found guilty of her murd3r & was sentenced to life in prison with eligibility for parole after 33 years. His girlfriend, Shauna Hoare, was found guilty of manslaught3r & sentenced to 17 years in prison, although Hoare had insisted to police that she had nothing to do with the kill*ng, or dismembering Watts' body & hiding the parts. Both Matthews & Hoare were also convicted of conspiracy to kidnap, preventing the lawful burial of a body, perverting the course of justice & possession of 2 stun g*ns. Becky Watts was last seen at home in St George, Bristol, on the morning of 19 February 2015 by her step mother Anjie Galsworthy, who left the house at around 11:15 A.M for a hospital appointment.[5] Watts was reported missing at around 4 pm the following day. Investigators found that her phone, laptop & tablet computer were missing from the house, but she had not taken any money or spare clothes with her & did not tell anyone that she was going away. On 22 February, Avon & Somerset Police made their first appeal for information about her disappearance & the following day, her father & grandmother appeared at a press conference appealing for her return. Police searches focused on a number of properties in Barton Hill, Southmead, St George's Park & Troopers Hill nature reserve. Searches were made in nearby open spaces & park areas, as well as house to house inquiries. Searches were also organised by public volunteers in public areas. Police made a public appeal for information regarding the movements of a black Vauxhall Zafira between 19 & 23 February. Inquiries focused on the belief that Watts had disappeared after leaving the family home, based on statements given by her step brother Nathan Matthews & his girlfriend Shauna Hoare, who were at the house at the time. They said they had not seen Watts but "heard the door slam" & assumed she had left. On 28 February, Matthews & Hoare were arrested in connection with Watts's disappearance. On 2 March, they were re-arrested on suspicion of murd3r. The following day, Watts's dismembered body was found at a property in Barton Court, Barton Hill. On 4 March, Matthews was charged with murder. On 22 June, Hoare, who was originally charged with perverting the course of justice, was charged with murd3r. Matthews & Hoare were also charged with conspiracy to kidnap, preventing the lawful burial of a body & possession of an illegal weapon. The couple were also charged with 4 unrelated counts of making indecent images of children. Matthews was also charged on unrelated counts of SA & voyeur*sm. The murder trial began on 6 October 2015. It was the prosecution's case that Watts was suffocated in her bedroom during a s3xually motivated kidnap plot carried out by Matthews & Hoare. The prosecution said, after the killing, Matthews & Hoare put Watts's body into the boot of their car and stayed at the house for several more hours. Later that day, they drove back to their own house, where over the next few days they dismembered her body using a knife & a circular saw & put the remains into bags & boxes, which were then hidden in a neighbour's shed. Matthews admitted kill*ng Watts but denied committing murd3r. He instead admitted manslaught3r. On 11 November 2015, after 3 ½ hours of deliberation, the jury found Matthews guilty of murd3r & Hoare guilty of manslaught3r. Both were also convicted of conspiracy to kidnap, perverting the course of justice, preventing the lawful burial of a body & possession of 2 stun g*ns. #crimejunkie #crimejunkies #crimestories #crimetiktoker #crimetiktoks #crime #truecrime #truecrimetiktoker #truecrimetiktok #truecrimecommunity #crimetiktok #crimetok #truecrimetok
