Rather than simply “following in his father’s footsteps,” Do Ho Suh used his father’s artistic legacy as a starting point to pioneer his own form of contemporary art. Do Ho Suh became a celebrated contemporary artist by using the hanok—the traditional Korean house that his father was deeply attached to—as a motif in his work.
