@humanlife350: Before anyone misunderstands the title, I'm not encouraging you to become cold, unkind, or self-centered. I'm talking to women who are naturally compassionate. Women with empathy who always try to understand where other people are coming from and who see potential in people everyone else has given up on. If that's you, you'll often attract wounded people. People who are emotionally unavailable, unhealed, and in constant need of reassurance. They see your kindness as somewhere to heal instead of something to protect. There's nothing wrong with being a good woman. The problem is that if you never learn to be a little selfish, you'll spend your life pouring into people who were attracted to your healing but never intended to pour anything back into you. Here's why.👇 --- 1️⃣ BECAUSE YOUR EMPATHY WILL ATTRACT WOUNDED PEOPLE Kind women often become magnets for emotionally wounded people. They see your patience, understanding, and willingness to give people another chance, then mistake those qualities for unlimited access to your time and emotional energy. Instead of seeing low effort for what it is, you start thinking, "Maybe he's acting this way because of what he's been through." --- 2️⃣ BECAUSE YOU CAN'T HEAL SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO HEAL Many good women stay far longer than they should because they believe that if they're patient enough, loving enough, or understanding enough, he'll eventually change. People don't heal because someone loved them harder. They heal because they decided to do the work themselves. Until then, you'll often find yourself accepting the bare minimum because you feel guilty expecting more. --- 3️⃣ BECAUSE YOUR STANDARDS QUIETLY START TO SLIP This rarely happens overnight. You excuse cancelled dates because he's stressed. You stop expecting consistency because he's "going through a lot." You tell yourself his lack of communication isn't personal because he's emotionally unavailable. Little by little, your standards shift until you're accepting behavior you would've walked away from years earlier. --- 4️⃣ BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL TAKE AS MUCH AS YOU'RE WILLING TO GIVE If you're always available, people get used to your availability. If you're always forgiving, some people stop apologizing. Setting limits doesn't make you selfish. It makes you emotionally healthy. --- 5️⃣ BECAUSE YOUR KINDNESS SHOULD NEVER COME AT THE EXPENSE OF YOUR PEACE Helping someone is very different from constantly sacrificing yourself for them. If every relationship leaves you emotionally exhausted, anxious, or carrying someone else's problems, it's worth asking whether you're being compassionate or simply overextending yourself. --- 6️⃣ BECAUSE YOU DESERVE THE SAME CARE YOU GIVE EVERYONE ELSE You remember birthdays, check in on people, encourage them when they're struggling, and make time when they need you. Now ask yourself this: when was the last time you gave yourself that same level of care? --- 7️⃣ BECAUSE YOU CAN'T BUILD YOUR OWN LIFE IF YOU'RE BUSY FIXING EVERYONE ELSE'S Some women become so busy rescuing partners, supporting friends, and carrying everyone else's burdens that years go by without building the life they actually wanted. Your purpose isn't to spend your life fixing broken people. It's to build a life that's peaceful, fulfilling, and surrounded by people who pour back into you too. --- One thing I've learned is that many good women don't need to become kinder. They need to become more protective of where their kindness goes. Because the right people won't just be attracted to your healing qualities. They'll also do everything they can to protect them. --- Do you think being "too nice" has ever attracted the wrong people into your life? 🤍👇🏽 ...
