@thekingronda: Mariah Carey has scored a major legal victory after a New York judge dismissed her older brother's $20 million lawsuit over claims in her memoir. But the family dispute may not be over just yet. The legal battle began in 2021, when Morgan Carey sued the pop superstar over her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. He argued that passages portraying him negatively had damaged his reputation and sought more than $20 million in damages. After years of legal proceedings, New York State Supreme Court Judge Leslie A. Stroth dismissed the lawsuit, finding that Morgan had not sufficiently established that Mariah acted with actual malice under the applicable legal standard. Mariah's attorney, John Rosenberg, said the singer was gratified by the decision, explaining that the court recognized the memoir addressed matters of public interest and dismissed her brother's defamation claims in their entirety. However, Morgan's attorney, Richard Altman, said his client respectfully disagreed with the ruling and planned to appeal. That means the dispute could continue despite the dismissal. The lawsuit has been a difficult chapter in an already complicated family history. Mariah has previously defended her memoir, maintaining that her account reflected her own experiences and what she had been told by people close to the family. Away from the courtroom, the singer has also been processing the loss of her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, who both passed away on the same day in 2024. For Mariah, the ruling marks a significant legal turning point, even as the possibility of an appeal leaves the family conflict unresolved. Sometimes, winning in court doesn't mean the pain behind a family dispute disappears. Do you think family disagreements should stay private, or do public figures have the right to share their personal stories? \#MariahCarey #CelebrityNews #HollywoodDrama #LegalBattle #entertainmentnews
