@thewhysideofficial: Two cans lying in the snow, warm enough to melt a circle around them. Three men had no idea what they were. In December 2001, three woodcutters in the mountains of western Georgia found two hot metal cylinders on a forest track. Night was falling, so they lit a fire and lay down with the cans right behind their backs. Within hours they were sick, and weeks later the burns appeared. Eight such cans had been brought into those mountains. Sources: IAEA, The Radiological Accident in Lia, Georgia (2014); Stanley Center for Peace and Security, interview with Nino Chkhobadze (2024). pov: Jay was a hard-working man. Caring, generous, and somehow good at almost everything he did. At such a young age, he already owned a small café. On the side, he played guitar for a band. He was also one of the top students at his university. It was honestly unfair. Because how could one person be so hardworking, so kind, so handsome—and still smell so unbelievably good? You were friends, yes. Sometimes, you would stop by his café just to buy something, and if Jay was the one taking orders, you would stay a little longer than necessary.

"Just coffee today?" Jay would ask. You would nod, pretending you hadn't been staring at his hands. "Yeah." "You're boring." "Excuse me?" Jay would only laugh before making your drink. And God, you liked him. You really liked him. But it was a happy crush. A harmless one. You were fine with it. Maybe it was just a phase. At least, that's what you kept telling yourself. Until one night. Jay's band was performing at a house party hosted by their lead vocalist—who also happened to be your cousin. The house was chaotic but fun. Music blasted through the speakers, drinks spilled on the floor, people shouted over each other, and everyone was having the time of their lives. You were standing in the kitchen when someone approached you. "Hey, pretty." You turned around and found one of your seniors smiling at you. "Hi. What's up?" He was standing a little too close, so you took a small step back. At first, you thought nothing of it. He was actually nice, and before you knew it, the two of you were talking and laughing. You didn't even notice when the music changed. Jay's band had started performing. People began cheering, gathering closer to the makeshift stage. And then you saw him. Jay stood at the front. A guitar was hanging around his shoulder, but this time, he wasn't just playing. He was singing. Your eyes widened. Jay caught your attention almost immediately. Then he started. "I don't like the way he's looking at you." The crowd cheered. You laughed at the lyrics, still standing beside your senior. But Jay's eyes stayed on you. "And I'm starting to think you want him too." Oh. The way he sang it was different. You knew Jay had been drinking. He wasn't completely drunk, but the slight redness on his cheeks and the confidence in his movements gave him away. Then came the chorus. "I turn my cheek music up, and I'm puffing my chest—" His voice grew stronger. "I'm getting red in the face, you can call me obsessed." You stared at him. Completely mesmerized. "It's not your fault that they hover, I mean no disrespect." And then— His eyes found yours. Your heart beat in a way it shouldn't have. You couldn't break eye contact. "It's my right to be hellish." His fingers moved against the guitar strings. "I still get jealous." The entire room erupted in cheers. But you barely heard them. Because Jay was still looking at you. Even until the song ended. You clapped along with everyone else, trying to act normal while your mind completely spiraled. Jay put his guitar down. Then he started walking toward you. Your soul practically left your body. Nope. Absolutely not. You turned around, ready to disappear into the crowd. But Jay caught your hand. You froze. "Can I talk to her?" Your senior looked between you and Jay before letting out an amused chuckle. "Yeah, man. Go ahead." And just like that, he left. You slowly turned toward Jay. "That was rude." "What was?" "Interrupting our conversation." Jay only stared at you. You could feel your face getting warmer. "Anyway," you said quickly, "you were really good." His lips curved into a small smile. "Yeah?" "Yeah. I didn't know you could sing like that." Jay tilted his head. "It's for me?" You blinked. "What?" "The compliment." "Of course, it's for you. Who else would it be for?" Jay stepped slightly closer. "For you?" You stared at him. "Yeah." He nodded, his eyes never leaving yours. "Hmm." "What?" "I don't like you talking to him." Your heart stopped. #jay #parkjongseong #jayenhypen #enhypen
