So glad you’ve made it. I’m a 37 yr survivor of HIV. Friends were dropping like flies. It was scary. I was told I’d only live for 3 years

I was born in 81 and I lost my favorite uncle to the AIDS virus in the early 90s. He passed at home with his family thanks to my family choosing love over fear❤️My uncle Art was so awesome, so handsome and he was an Army Veteran gay black American man who passed on at 36yrs old🙏🏾❤️

I remember this horrible time. I lost over 30 friends. Worst time of my life. I was lucky to have a partner and was never exposed but still depressed from what was happening.

Oh baby I lived the same life. The love of my life died in 1990 from this in my arms while I was kissing him. Here is his photo, Michael, my love. I buried more than 200 friends. I’m still haunted to this day.

I’m 67 and literally the only one left. I’m angry and don’t understand why I was left behind I was organizing my bookshelves recently and took down my Bible I had placed all the funeral memorial cards I’ve attended. Not counting relatives and straight friends. I had attended 67 funerals in 4 years all aids related. That’s in addition to the people like he spoke about that disappeared The bartender, the cute guy at the restaurant, the hairdresser who cut your hair etc An entire community disappeared

I remember many of my close friends and lovers died. It was horrible and I wonder how I survived and I'm standing alone all these years.

When I was at Disneyland at that time a young man asked me to take some pictures of him on adventure island. He told me he was dying from AIDS and a visit to Disneyland was his life’s dream but no family would accompany him. I remember him from time to time how tall and proud he stood for the pictures.

I started on AZT and Acyclovir then I was going to to Italy for hyperthermia to be heated to 110° thank God I didn't do that then the newer drugs came out, some were horrible causing diarrhea and neuropathy the I was on injectable one called Fuzeon and it left horrible painful welts but I became undetectable. Then came the new drugs. I am 73 now and only take 1 pill per day to stay undetectable. By this time I had lost all my friends and neighbors in NYC ... a horrible time.

I lived in San Francisco then. So many wonderful young men were lost. Of my friends only two survived the epidemic. In the beginning there were so few legal protections. It was horrible. May I mention all the pets that lost their loving owners and homes for them had to be found.
