@howyourhouseworks.au: Stop trusting the microwave to clean your kitchen sponge 🧽🦠 In a study of used sponges, the ones people regularly microwaved or rinsed in hot soapy water were no cleaner than ones nobody cleaned, because a sponge stays wet and whatever survives grows back. In separate lab tests, salmonella lived in sponges for over a week but died off on dish brushes within 3 days, because brushes dry out between uses. Bin the sponge and wash up with a brush, stood bristles up to dry. #kitchentips #cleaningtips #foodsafety #kitchenhacks #howthingswork
