Bukar Shettima Hosts RRR Commissioner, UNDP, Donors on Development Project Inspection Tour ….Delegation Inspects Market Facilities, Staff Quarters, Higher Islamic School, 100-bed-capacity hospitaland Community Stabilisation Initiatives The Executive Chairman of Dikwa Local Government Area, Hon. Alhaji Bukar Shettima, has received the Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR), Hon. Ali Isa Garba Halidu, alongside United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) experts and donor representatives from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany and other countries, on an inspection tour of development projects in Dikwa. The visit focused on assessing ongoing and completed interventions aimed at rebuilding infrastructure, improving essential services, restoring livelihoods and promoting peace and stability in the area. The delegation inspected ongoing construction at Dikwa Main Market, including a shopping complex, sanitation facilities and water infrastructure, designed to improve trading conditions and promote public hygiene. At the teachers’ quarters, the team assessed the provision of 10 two-bedroom residential units intended to improve teachers’ accommodation. The delegation also inspected 40 two-bedroom residential units at the nurses’ quarters, aimed at improving staff welfare and supporting healthcare service delivery. The team further visited Dikwa Higher Islamic School, where construction has been completed, and Dikwa General Hospital, where a 100-bed-capacity facility has also been completed. The projects are expected to strengthen access to education and healthcare for residents of Dikwa and neighbouring communities. The delegation also visited the UNDP-supported Community Stabilisation Centre (CSC), where community representatives hold monthly meetings to review activities, identify challenges and promote peaceful coexistence. The centre provides a platform for addressing community concerns through advocacy, referrals and engagement with relevant authorities. Its interventions include advocacy against the discharge of firearms during wedding celebrations, engagement with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) over unauthorised roadside parking, and reporting tensions involving internally displaced persons (IDPs) and some repentant individuals at Masarmari Camp to the military for intervention. The centre has also conducted hygiene awareness campaigns among members of the abattoir community to encourage proper sanitation and protect public health. These initiatives highlight the role of community participation in addressing local challenges, preventing conflict and strengthening collaboration between residents, government institutions and security agencies. The visit was attended by the Vice Chairman of Dikwa Local Government Council, the Council Secretary, directors, ward councillors, ward chairmen and other community stakeholders. Also present were the Governor’s Special Adviser, Engr. Ali Goni, and representatives of relevant ministries and other government officials. The inspection provided an opportunity for stakeholders to assess project progress and review interventions supporting Dikwa’s recovery and development. The projects reflect ongoing efforts to improve critical infrastructure, strengthen public services and create conditions for sustainable recovery in the conflict-affected local government area. Sustained collaboration among Dikwa Local Government Council, the Borno State Government, UNDP, donor partners and community representatives will remain important in ensuring that the interventions deliver lasting benefits to residents.#tiktokviral #boredathome #viraltiktok
