There are many metaphors and allegories in this clip. 1) it's so important to be with people who share your views and path 2) you are rarely going to find them 3) you cannot make someone join you on your journey, they have to want to join you and if they don't want to then you must let them go 4) the place you travel from and the place you are travelling to will be dark and wet and unpleasant. 5) not in this clip, but later in the movie it will be revealed "assume everyone you meet is an agent, and if you ever see an agent, run". Taking the red pill means you will have less friends, not more.
