as a white child, there was never a thought in my mind to hate anyone. i feel like my parents raised me in a rainbow bubble because i didn’t even know people felt that way until middle school/ high school. and still to this day, as a 24 year old, i am just so shocked by all the hate people have.

Exactly this, If she was racist as a teen she was likely being racist to her teenage peers. And it breaks my heart thinking that someone out there is looking at their abuser using their platform to say "i was just a teenager" while theyre stuck with the pain of being abused, when did they get to be a teenager? I know we dont know how shes made ammends in private, but the defense of "I was just a kid" is so harmful

(Canada bias here) but, even in the mid 2000’s when I was in hs, when ppl used slurs & shit it was a big deal, like lose friends, get in fights, get a talking to from a teacher if it happened in front of them kinda thing. even in a small, predominantly white town, ppl saying stuff like that was controversial af & lead to consequences— how is it that mid 2010’s teens are pretending that saying slurs was just like… normal????
