@mecagent: Just 100 years ago, engineers were designing cars, aircraft and machinery with pencils, rulers and drawing boards. Every line was drawn by hand. Every revision meant more hours at the drafting table. The evolution of how we design physical objects over a single century is absolutely insane. In 1963, Ivan Sutherland introduced Sketchpad, a pioneering system that let people draw and manipulate geometry directly on a computer screen. Over the following decades, CAD transformed engineering, taking us from paper drawings to editable 3D models, complex assemblies and digital simulations. Fast forward to 2026, and engineers can describe what they want to build and watch AI model it directly inside their CAD software. With MecAgent in SolidWorks, text, images and specifications can become editable parts, assemblies and technical drawings. AI can carry out tasks in the background while the engineer keeps working, directing and reviewing the results. Think about that. We went from drawing every line by hand, to building models on a screen, to asking AI to carry out the modelling itself. All in roughly a century. If technology continues advancing at this pace, imagine how we will design the physical world in 2126. The next 100 years could make today’s most advanced engineering tools look prehistoric. #cad #ai #mechanicalengineering
