@rpd.football: MOBILITY - Creating Passing Angles & Supporting Runs 3 MAIN COACHING POINTS 1. TIMING — When do I move? • Don’t move just for the sake of moving. • Time the movement as the ball travels or the player on the ball looks up. • Move late enough that the defender can’t easily react. • After you pass — move again. Don’t admire the pass. Coach cue: “Move at the right moment.” 2. AWARENESS — What can I see? • Scan before receiving and before making the run. • Know where the space, defender and next teammate are. • Recognise when a teammate’s movement has created space for you. • If one player comes short, can someone else threaten beyond? Coach cue: “See the picture before you move.” 3. BODY SHAPE — Can I receive and play forward? • Try to arrive side-on/open rather than square to the ball. • Receive where you can see as much of the pitch as possible. • First touch should help take you into the next action. • Adjust your body while the ball is travelling, not after it arrives. Coach cue: “Open up — see forward.” SIMPLE MESSAGE FOR THE GIRLS SCAN → TIME IT → OPEN UP We’re looking for purposeful movement, not just constant running. Every movement should either create space, receive the ball or create space for somebody else.
