@utahisawesome: SmartAsset’s 2026 study puts the comfortable income for one Utah adult with no kids at $102,794 before taxes, a 3.3% increase over last year. The math: SmartAsset takes MIT’s living wage for each state, counts it as the 50% of a budget that covers needs, then adds 30% for wants and 20% for savings. In Utah, that’s $51,397 for necessities, or roughly $4,283 a month. How the region compares for a single adult: Colorado: $108,160 Utah: $102,794 Arizona: $101,795 Nevada: $100,506 Idaho: $98,176 New Mexico: $91,229 Wyoming: $89,232 No state comes in under $80,000, and 23 states are above $100,000. Montana had the steepest climb at 8.6%, while six states, including Texas and Tennessee, actually went down. Top 10 states by income needed for a single adult: Hawaii: $129,002 Massachusetts: $127,213 California: $126,797 New York: $124,342 New Jersey: $113,776 Washington: $110,614 Oregon: $110,074 Connecticut: $108,368 Colorado: $108,160 Maryland: $107,910 Utah is 17th.

Utah is a terrible state. Beautiful hiking, wonderful tourist state, but 39th in education is wild, and those metrics are based on if you’re apart of the cult, because we all know the cult suppresses the actual numbers with their infiltration of the public schooling.

I don’t disagree. COVID destroyed my last business and my family never recovered. We were forced to start over on the east coast.
