@c5news: Sixty years on from one of the biggest man-made disasters in post-war history, the King has paid tribute to victims of the Aberfan disaster, saying they will "always be in our hearts". The Queen and the Prince of Wales joined the monarch at an event in the Welsh village to remember the 116 children and 28 adults who lost their lives when 150,000 tonnes of coal waste slid down a hillside and engulfed Pantglas Junior School. Prime Minister Andy Burnham also paid tribute to the victims at the House of Commons on Wednesday, having visited on Monday to hear about the “aftermath of a tragedy at the hands of the state”. “This is a day to recognise that, say sorry for it, but celebrate the strength and spirit of a community that has stood together through adversity all of these years.” #5news #aberfan
