As a bartender, if you say “I’ll have a martini” there will be 20 follow up questions. The first being “do you want gin or vodka”. Some context would be amazing on what you like. And if you’ve never had a martini before, tell me that. I’ll make it how I think a first time person would be able to enjoy it.

In the US you need to specify what brand of liquor you would like, otherwise they will use well or call which is lower quality. Also.. straight up is an option! Not dry wet or dirty

Wetter does not mean less spirit. A martini is 2oz of gin and however much vermouth is requested. I personally like a whole oz, but regardless you get the same amount of spirit no matter how wet or dry you order it.
