@nkwazimag: Would you risk your home, your family and your safety for a country that did not yet exist? Mama Betty Chilunga did. With her baby on her back, she stood guard outside her home while freedom fighters held meetings inside. She helped mobilise women, defied colonial restrictions and lived to see Northern Rhodesia become Zambia. In our Independence Special, Mama Betty takes us back to Zambia before independence and shares the stories, risks and realities that we hardly hear about.
