I used to live in NY and moved immediately when I got pregnant. I only know maybe 2 friends who stayed when they had kids. Everyone else left

It'll be paid for by the taxes of the parents who can now work a job and have a taxable income. Like, freeing a bunch of adults up to work with tax-funded childcare is a self-sustaining system. Making it a non-profit government service helps bring costs way down, essentially "buying in bulk" for the whole system. It really is just the most efficient and effective way to do it.

I've lost a lot of brilliant coworkers with incredible educations to child care. they moved or quit because most are paying around 45K a year on pretty basic bare bones care.

And this is also something that people don’t look at. If people can’t afford to live in New York or any city and they start to move out how do you keep your economy running if you don’t have people there to work on anything?

The only reason why my wife and I will be able to afford to have kids here is because my wife gets a discount through work as a childcare professional. We need this here!

you look at a lot of these countries that have the highest rates of satisfaction & they almost all have insane tax levels but then you look & they dont have to worry about healthcare or public transport or education or community services or water/gas/power or anything like that & you know what? id be ok with paying a little more in my taxes if it meant my doctor visits were free & so is my public transport rides & im not paying for energy companies to get a profit & all that. like there are so many people in places like the US who cant even begin affording to go to college who would be like an amazing doctor or researcher or artist or accountant or whatever. imagine if they were able to pursue education without being fleeced. thats progress, thats what society should be.

It's wild that they don't understand things like this. their policy only benefits the rich, but if there was even just a little bit more money in the hands of people.. by doing that date night thing they do where they watch kids for a little bit, that's putting money directly back into the economy. sure it costs some money, but the quality of life for people goes up, and they're going out and spending. It's like how if movie theaters really wanted more revenue, like they would drop the price of tickets. there's a bunch of movies out right now that I want to see, but last time I went to see a movie with a friend it was $30 and we didn't even buy food or drink

It's because alot of MAGA/Conservatives don't want to pay their taxes for others. The supposed majority of those groups are only Christians by name, not by actions.
