Yegaaa :
We’ve had this conversation in our Development Economics class wherein we talked about Agriculture. The sad thing is, most of our investments are allocated to things that don’t necessarily support Agriculture (yk where our money goes based on the National Budget Data). The thing is, we have the resources, the land, the weather, and the potential to properly produce quality goods. It’s a matter of maximizing our resources, making it sustainable, and making the system repeatable. Improving our Agriculture means we can have cheaper goods that are affordable for everyone, which then contributes to food security. It also means that we can strengthen our domestic industries, increase our export capacity, and create more opportunities for reinvestment, which can eventually contribute to higher GCF (higher GCF, higher chances for development). I’m not saying I’m better than most of the Economists in our country, I am still an Economics student, but I genuinely believe that investing in agricultural transformation should be one of our major priorities for development. It doesn’t just benefit Agriculture, it has the potential to strengthen other sectors of our economy as well.
