You’re drawing a conclusion from a single variable, and that’s the flaw. Over a lifetime of trading hundreds of stocks, you simply cannot absorb the volatility that comes with holding positions into earnings day. It can wipe you out, or it can make you a millionaire, and neither outcome is skill. That’s variance. Trading was/is/will never about volatility. It’s about building an edge. When I look at buying ahead of earnings, I don’t see an edge. I see my entire risk exposed to a coin flip.
