@islanderstv: The ancient town of Irolu-Remo in Ogun State came alive with culture, tradition and colourful festivities as the Irolu Development Association (IDA) celebrated the 43rd edition of the Agan-Un Festival from Sunday, October 11, to Sunday, October 18, 2026. The week-long celebration, hosted by the royal father of the town, HRH Oba Sikiru A. A. Adeyiga, the Onirolu of Irolu-Remo, featured a series of cultural, religious, sporting and community development activities aimed at promoting the town's rich heritage and strengthening unity among its people. A major highlight of this year's festival was the launch of a N500 million development fund at the Onirolu Pavilion. The initiative is designed to support developmental projects and contribute to the continued growth and advancement of Irolu-Remo. The festival, themed “Celebrating Our Heritage, Preserving Our Legacy, Building Our Future,” underscored the community's commitment to preserving its cultural identity while embracing development and creating a better future for generations to come. The celebration also provided an opportunity for indigenes, residents, traditional leaders and other stakeholders to reconnect with their roots, promote communal harmony and reaffirm their commitment to the progress of Irolu-Remo. Beyond its cultural significance, the 43rd Agan-Un Festival served as a platform for mobilising support for community development, with the N500 million fund launch standing out as a major step towards advancing the town's developmental aspirations. The festival once again highlighted the importance of preserving Yoruba traditions while building a sustainable future through unity, collective responsibility and community-driven initiatives.
