My Call of Duty story goes back almost two decades. 🎮 It started with my cousin, a PC gamer who loved Medal of Honor. He told me many of the developers behind Medal of Honor had worked on Call of Duty. I watched him play online, and eventually, I got my own copy of Call of Duty 2 on Xbox 360. I didn’t have Xbox Live, but I loved the campaign and played split-screen with my nephews to death. The graphics blew me away at the time, and the bonus behind-the-scenes DVD made it even more special. I still own that copy today. Years later, I moved to PS3, got internet, and discovered Modern Warfare 2. That game became an obsession. It’s probably the game I’ve put the most hours into in my life, and I even earned the Platinum trophy. I went back and played the original COD4: Modern Warfare just to experience it and get better at MW2. That’s how serious I was! Then Black Ops came out, and many of my cousins and friends finally had PS3s and the game, too. I might have spent more time on MW2, but Black Ops gave me some of my favorite memories because we were all playing together. I played a little Modern Warfare 3, then life happened. I had a child, started working, and had to focus on figuring things out. Gaming took a back seat. Modern Warfare 2019 brought me back, and I got to play with some of the people from those original days. Sadly, time changes things, and some of those people aren’t here with us anymore. Cold War was the first and only Call of Duty I ever bought digitally. I enjoyed it, but the pandemic hit, I lost my job, and once again, life took priority. I bought Modern Warfare II, the reboot, but never even put it in my console. And now, here I am with Modern Warfare 4 and its steelbook. My girlfriend’s son preordered it for my birthday back in June, which makes it even more special. ❤️ I’ve heard great things about the campaign, and I can’t wait to get into it. I might dabble in multiplayer, but the campaign is my priority, especially with GTA VI and the Ocarina of Time remake on the horizon. But as a physical game collector, I can’t help wondering if this could be the last Modern Warfare to get a traditional physical PlayStation disc. I hope not. Looking back, I don’t just remember the games. I remember my nephews, cousins, friends, the late-night sessions, and all the different stages of life I’ve experienced along the way. Some games are more than games. They’re memories. What’s your favorite Call of Duty, and what memories do you have with it? #CallOfDuty #ModernWarfare #GamingNostalgia #Steelbook #PhysicalMedia
