@the.living.room.pod: Most of us have heard of VO2 max. But it's just one of several simple tests that can tell you a lot about how long you might live. In this conversation, Dr. John Hawley breaks down three of the most predictive markers of longevity, and two of them might surprise you. The first is VO2 max. It measures your cardiorespiratory fitness, and right now it's considered the single best predictor of all-cause mortality. The second is hand grip strength. As Dr. Hawley explains, it's a reasonably good predictor of longevity on its own, even if the reason why isn't entirely obvious. It reflects muscle strength and endurance, but could be more of a signal of correlation than causation. The third was published in JAMA roughly a decade ago: the number of push-ups you can complete in one minute. It captures muscular endurance, but because it's physically demanding enough to elevate your heart rate, it doubles as a cardiovascular signal too. Three tests. Each one tells a story about where your health is headed. Tune into the full conversation, out now on all major streaming platforms. ▶️ youtube.com/@The.Living.Room.Podcast #TheLIVINGRoomPodcast
