@kefalonia.postcards: A different side of Kefalonia, and one of the most beautiful hikes we’ve done on Mount Ainos. 🌲🥾 This is the Digaleto to Megas Soros trail, taking you from the foothills of the mountain all the way to Kefalonia’s highest peak. The hike starts uphill, passing through the beautiful Kefalonian fir forest. After a section on a forest road, the trail becomes much steeper as you make your way towards the summit. And the forest? Absolutely stunning, especially with the clouds drifting through the trees. We reached the top to find ourselves completely surrounded by clouds. No views of the Ionian Islands this time, but the atmosphere in the forest more than made up for it. 🥾 Hike details 📍 Digaleto → Megas Soros, Mount Ainos ↗️ 6.6 km one way / approx. 13.2 km return ⛰️ Approx. 1,095m elevation gain ⏱️ Allow around 4–6+ hours, depending on pace and stops 🌲 Steep sections, forest paths and dirt road 💧 Bring plenty of water, no water sources along the trail One to save if you love hiking and want to explore a different side of Kefalonia beyond the beaches. #Kefalonia #MountAinos #HikingGreece #GreekIslands #Hiking
