Not just in abroad, as a banker in Nigeria, staying at one bank will leave in one level till you move, your growth won’t be as fast as someone who is job hopping.

This is very valuable. I used the job hopping to multiply my income from 70k to 2million a month within a 6year window. Just keep improving and upskilling aggressively as you go, you will be shocked at how far you’ll recover. I clock 2years in my current company in few months, and I’m already looking for an exit plan while taking more hard courses to upskill.

Speaking of not staying too long on a job, I just resigned from my almost 4 years job today and it felt so good. I’m a massage therapist and aesthetician btw so it has taken a toll on my health and sanity. I feel your pain sis, may God bless the work of our hands.

God bless you for giving us this insight. That's why your called AdaDaddy. the things I've learnt from you and it's helping me plan my relocation, first; get ready, get the necessary document and experience you need
Secondly; infuse what you learned with tech
Thirdly; get back the years by not staying in a job for more than 2 years

I love how passionate you sound. Another thing I noticed while doing my one year internship is how these jobs do not give you any room for improvement. It’s so easy to get comfortable doing the same thing everyday

I share the same sentiment. Don't stay in one job for a long time. Keep aiming for higher. That way, you don't remaind stagnant.

This is basic. Not just abroad. Doing so, makes you climb the ladder quickly. However, there is a but, especially in Nigeria, some employers will (not might) not employ you because of your nomadic nature. Especially those companies who want talents longterm, they want organizational stability. So, what do you do if you are interviewing with such companies? You negotiate package that you know you are okay with for the next 5 years or so. Remember, a cap do not fit all. Advising people to be hopping every two years (in Nigeria, I don’t know abroad), could be counterproductive. My comment is for your Nigerian audience who may likely run with this message.

You honestly cannot explain this to anybody! Those who get it will get it, To the lady that said don’t job Hop….her reason was you need to show to bank that you are stable in one job for years so they can give you mortgage! Like who cares about carrying debt when there is something more! I need to increase my income as fast as I can first! Then debt like mortgage can come later! Like I don’t even know why they had an issue with this, witnessed this firsthand with my friends in corporate…..and I will say to anyone that has the mindset to move fast, work smart and achieve so much to Take the experience from Peter and go somewhere else that will be more beneficial to you!!! My fellow immigrants You come first before any employer!! So your growth is paramount and essential!!! Anyways no need to stress success means different things to different people, some people are only aiming for bread crumbs while some people aim for the whole bakery!!!
