Both had traveled to the country seeking better-paying jobs and worked as cleaners in Mecca. According to one of the most widely circulated accounts, the man kissed the woman inside a mosque. Someone allegedly recorded the incident on a phone and handed the video over to police. Saudi Arabia officially stated that the two were executed for “immoral acts inside a mosque in Mecca,” which violated the sanctity of the religious site. Saudi Arabia frequently carries out executions by beheading, but the method used in this particular case remains unknown. Most shockingly, their families reportedly had no idea they had been sentenced to death! 💔 Nazrul’s father borrowed approximately $5,700 to send his son abroad for work. According to relatives, Nazrul’s aunt died after hearing the news of his execution. His family is still struggling with debt and is pleading for his body to be returned home. 💔 Sweety’s father also borrowed money to help her find work abroad. She left behind a young daughter. Just one day before the execution was announced, Sweety spoke with her father and expressed hope that she would return home in two months. Both were arrested back in 2023. According to consular records, Nazrul was accused of a cybercrime, while Sweety faced an adultery allegation, even though she was reportedly divorced when she traveled to Saudi Arabia. Bangladeshi diplomats were not informed of the death sentences in advance.
