@childocdtherapist: I’ve been an OCD therapist for over twenty years and the first question I asked every child or teen I worked with was: What have you been doing to cope with your OCD? The number one answer? Distraction. These kids were trapped on the hamster wheel of distraction. Downtime was a scary notion. Talking about OCD was even scarier. Because if they could just drown out OCD, it wouldn’t get through. But it always did. The way to truly crush OCD is to learn how to handle those thoughts without doing compulsions. That doesn’t mean you have to sit around thinking about OCD or force yourself to talk about it. It means you can do things you enjoy even when OCD is still there. You can start small. If possible work with an OCD therapist and do ERP (Exposure Response Prevention) [find one at NOCD www.treatmyocd.com or www.iocdf.org/find-help]. But having to stay distracted every minute so OCD won’t get through won’t work long term. Katie :
My work was my distraction 😔 I just spent the last two weeks working not realising what I was doing, when I stopped I realised I was actually putting off a rather large break down 🥹

I don't know if you can help, I'm currently in erp Therapy for OCD, I've had multiple other therapists tell me I have OCD but my current therapist doesn't seem to think I have because I don't feel morally bad or worried about making other people ill regarding me getting sick, I don't know if you could share some insight with this?
