Y'all don't understand how horrifying this was when it came out. It was the first ARG done for a horror movie. They put up missing posters of the actors to advertise the movie, the concept of found footage horror was non existent.

It’s weird because it’s such a technically boring ending. Just someone standing in the corner, but the movie built up SO much tension that our brains fill in the parts that are scariest. It’s wild how iconic it is.

The actor, Michael C. Williams did a really fun, behind the scenes, series on his TikTok last year. I’d highly recommend it if you’re a fan of filmmaking. It’s like a day by day storytelling. It’s even more impressive after knowing all the details. There’s one big moment in particular, that I had always assumed was a storyline, but was completely improvised. Such a unique process. Super interesting. Everyone involved was perfect, and really green, and it’s rare for something like that to come together so well.

Guys you don’t understand how terrifying this was when it came to theaters…. No social media buzz, so no spoilers were leaked. We genuinely went to see this thinking it was real.

I just rewatched this last week. An absolute masterpiece. I don’t understand why this movie isn’t spoken about with more reverence or thought of as a stone cold classic.

The brilliant marketing of this movie will never be surpassed. We all believed it was true. We were all scarred. Would never work today of course, but damn it was epic to be a part of back in the day.

Still one of the most inventive films of all time. Also scarred an entire generation about camping in Maryland.

that ending still scares tf out of me, bc it feels so real, not like a cinematic scene with music and camera angles, just real perspective and horror

Oh my God I saw this when the rumor was it was a documentary. Slept on the sofa with the TV on all night for a month after. No more scary movies since.

Nobody who didn’t experience it at release will understand how terrifying this movie was. Nothing like this had been made before. It felt so real. The kids handprints on the walls remain imprinted in my mind.

I'm convinced people who dont like this movie just dont know how to watch movies. I'll give you a hint: it starts with a thing called suspension of disbelief!

This movie will go down as the most creative masterpieces of horror of all time. The marketing, the suspense, the acting. All of it.

People don’t understand. There was a website that was like…the history of the witch and there were weird things on there, this had never been done before. Baby’s first ARG. And Mikey facing the corner is one of the scariest images in film for me!
