The Chosen “humanized” the disciples so much for me! It shows them arguing and struggling- it made them so real to me. More so than “figures” in the bible!

I think John struggled with being the one Jesus loved and not being the rock too. Whereas Peter didn’t understand his assignment to begin with and just wanted to feel loved.

to be fair, when the resurrection of Christ, Jesus told to Peter the manner of how all of them will die. And with a very brotherly concern, Peter asked Jesus, “How about John?” cause he knows John is the youngest disciple. 🥰

The ear cutting thing I read that Peter had already been killed by Rome when John wrote his gospel. So by that point Rome wouldn't have been able to punish him for it. But the other gospels were being circulated before he died so they didn't want to out him.

I think they did have a friendly beef. John was Jesus's right hand the one he loved and Peter was the rock he built his church on.
