So what if i design a print for on a t shirt and the mockup that printify gives me i use in ai to change things about the mockup, or color of the shirt. Is that okay? Or isnt that allowed either?

I think the rules are pretty straightforward also for physical items. They still allow AI cover images / mockups for the product, but they expect at least one image of the actual physical product you offer, which has to be unedited. I think that’s quite fair.

This absolutely sucks as a small business. You don’t know the quality of every print that the company are doing for you. Yet I know every item I send out is of a high quality yet because I change my background of a photo that isn’t allowed. Kind of feels like Etsy are moving more towards POD then allowing small businesses create things just because we’re bad at photography 😭

There is a lot of confusion over on a big Etsy forum group and everyone is reading it differently and waiting for clarity from some experts. So those that use a mockup for prints, cards, a mug, at least one photo needs to be of the physical thing you are selling. So for example if you do a framed print, you can’t use a digital mock-up image and a digital image added to the mockup without showing at least one image being the physical product item. You can still use those images, but at least one has to be the actual thing. A lot of confusion at the moment. Hopefully Etsy will do a q and a to resolve any queries

What if I do personalised greeting cards? I don’t want to print every card I do and waste ink and card just to take a picture

I do physical sales, I use Ai to make it more eye catching but include a standard photo in all listings . Business as usual

I don’t use Ai as such, but I do remove my backgrounds and replace it in Canva, because well… I don’t have very many places in my house to take great, bright imagery! Do I still need to add an unedited image?

You use AI to do the mockups, but you also use AI to create the actual prints? What’s their view on that

I feel like they’re just full of it pretending they are protecting their creative sellers however do we really think they will close Etsy shops that bring them money with huge sales and also use AI? I highly doubt it
