@thesunnahguy: Not everyone is going to be happy when you start making changes to your life. You start taking your faith more seriously. You become more disciplined. You stop doing certain things and spending time in certain places. And suddenly, people you've known for years start treating you differently. Some will support you. Others will question why you've changed. And some might even make you feel guilty for no longer being the person they're used to. I think this is something you have to be prepared for when you're genuinely trying to improve yourself. Because the people around you have become comfortable with a certain version of you. And when you start changing, it can make them uncomfortable too. Sometimes because they miss the relationship you had. And sometimes because seeing you make changes reminds them of things they've been putting off in their own lives. But you can't allow that to become a reason to stop growing. That doesn't mean you need to cut people off or start thinking you're better than anybody. You can still love people, respect them and wish them well. But you also have to accept that not everybody is going to understand the decisions you're making. Especially when those decisions mean you can no longer live the way you used to. And I think one of the most important things you can learn is to become comfortable with being misunderstood. You don't need everybody's approval to make a good decision. You don't need to explain every change you're making. And you certainly don't need to remain the same person just to keep other people comfortable. Don't allow the fear of losing people's approval to stop you from becoming the person you know you need to be. Sometimes growing means accepting that certain relationships won't remain the same. And that's okay.
Very inspiring. I don’t follow Islam. Even as a Christian I’m not a big church goer. There is an old saying though and it reminds of what you said. “When you succeed, the devil comes knocking”. The problem is it’s the devil in a real life situation is going to be someone close to you like a colleague, a friend or even a family member and they will drag you down with anything and everything they have.
