@tiffanylforbesauthor: So apparently, Kindle Unlimited is now Kindle+, and Amazon has added thousands of audiobooks to the subscription. 👏🏽 Wonderful! Fantastic! A round of applause for the readers! More books, more listening, same subscription price. We love that for y’all! BUT WHAT ABOUT THE AUTHORS?! 🤨 Let me tell y’all how my Wednesday morning went. October 21, 2026. I’m minding my business, getting ready to enjoy my coffee and checking my Amazon KDP dashboard like any hardworking independent author and publisher. My estimated royalties were looking GOOD. A couple hundred dollars shy of $4,000. Baby, I was smiling! ☕💅🏽 Before I could finish my damn coffee, my earnings had dropped to around $1,800! EXCUSE ME?! 😭 Now, I don’t know about y’all, but my bills don’t accept glitches, these folks doesn’t accept technical difficulties, and Dominion Energy damn sure isn’t taking an IOU because Amazon’s backend decided to have a nervous breakdown! 😂 I immediately contacted Amazon by email AND phone. I was told there was an error on the backend. The backend? Baby, I don’t care if it’s the backend, front end, or somebody’s rear end. PUT MY MONEY BACK! 😩🤣 The representative assured me the issue would be resolved within 24–48 hours. Well, we’re past 24 hours and I’m still waiting. And here’s what makes this even more frustrating. Today, October 22, Amazon sends out this cheerful little announcement telling subscribers that Kindle Unlimited is now Kindle+, complete with thousands of additional audiobooks. That’s beautiful for consumers. Seriously. Readers deserve options. But authors deserve transparency. We should not have to wake up to thousands of dollars and thousands of pages read disappearing from our estimated earnings without an explanation or advance communication about major platform changes. Now, I can’t independently confirm that the Kindle+ rollout caused my dashboard issue, but the timing certainly raises questions. And before somebody says, “It’s just an estimate,” let me explain something. Independent authors depend on these royalties. We pay the cost to be the boss and we got bills. This is not Monopoly money! Amazon generally pays KDP royalties approximately 60 days after the end of the month in which they were earned. That means October royalties are money authors expect around the end of December. Christmas is over, New Year’s is coming, and we need our coins accounted for! 💸 My biggest concern isn’t even the name change. It’s the lack of communication and how little noise I’m seeing from other authors. Are we just supposed to shrug our shoulders when our dashboards suddenly lose thousands of dollars? Because baby, I write fiction for a living. I don’t need Amazon adding another plot twist to my bank account! 😭📚 I’m giving them the promised 48 hours, but I want answers, accurate reporting, and every penny I’ve legitimately earned. AUTHORS, I NEED Y’ALL TO SOUND OFF! 📢 Have your KDP estimated royalties or Kindle page-read earnings suddenly dropped this week? Have you contacted Amazon? What were you told? And READERS, please understand why this matters. Behind those books you love are real people working hard to entertain you, and we deserve to be paid accurately. Let’s talk about it, because silence isn’t going to fix anybody’s dashboard! ✍🏽 Tiffany Forbes So Amazing Publications #AmazonKDP #KindlePlus #KindleUnlimited #IndependentAuthors #AuthorCommunity
