so true, i stopped making islamic reminders cause those so called sheikhs would come at me for being empathetic. i would tell people about my own struggles with sin and how i overcame it, instead of taking advice from the video they would call me a kafir for exposing my sins 😭

There’s a story of a sahabi who used to drink and get lashed for it, someone cursed him for it and the prophet pbuh said: “Do not curse him, for by Allah, I know he loves Allah and His Apostle.” And this hadith I bring up often to ppl like that, it teaches not only empathy but also the fact that a sin doesn’t define someone’s love for Allah, the deen and the prophet pbuh. (Sahih al-Bukhari 6780)

Facts! I knew this old man in our community when I was a child, he drank his whole life and everyone shunned him. Then he goes to do Hajj for the first time (mind you his whole family said he had never prayed, never read and never went to mosque) and he literally dies a peaceful death while doing Hajj and is buried there now. As a child, it changed my perspective that every sinner has the opportunity to repent and become a Friend of Allah. Even the story of Al-Mahdi, he's going to change literally overnight. 🥰🩷

for example, someone can literally be struggling with prayer. most people would say their advice harshly “how can you not pray?!”, “the one who doesn’t pray is a kaffir!” “pray or jahanam” etc. i am not saying all of this isn’t true, but now all you’re doing is installing fear instead of love for the deed. people struggle to pray for many reasons but when all you do is remind them of jahanam do you think they’ll actually pray because they live it or because they are just scared to go to hell so it just becomes a task of the day?

people forget that religion is not just about physical rules and regulations but more so about learning how to manage your spiritual self within the material world. emotions are part of the spiritual self and yet get little regard among today's sheikhs
