@abdimarihotmarbun: Is Peter the Rock of Matthew 16:18? Most people aren't aware of this but the Bible actually identifies Peter as "rock" not just in Matthew but also in John 1, 1 Corinthians 1, 3, 9, & 15, Galatians 1 & 2 using the Aramaic word for rock "Kepha" or spelled otherwise as "Cepha". So why insert an Aramaic word into a Greek text and not just call him Petros? One obvious answer is because that's the exact name Jesus gave him. Jesus would have spoken Aramaic primarily, so when he changed Simon's name to Peter, it was within the Aramaic language. Another, piece of this topic that majority of people don't know is that the Catholic Church doesn't believe Peter is the Rock alone, the Catechism specifically identifies Jesus, the confession, and the faith of Peter as all being the Rock. We understand that limiting the Word of God to one possible interpretation is not always the best approach to scripture, instead we allow God to speak all of the truth He wishes to convey, including that Peter, his confession, his faith, and Jesus, are all cohesive interpretations. #catholicism #catholichurch #catholic #romancatholicism #christianity credit video IG reels theaccidentalcatholic
