The language barrier was an issue but I managed to order a Poulet moambe (€10): chicken in palm-fruit sauce. For the sauce, the fruits are boiled, pounded and strained, producing a rich pulp that gives the sauce a real richness and bright colour. Notes of peanut coming through too. I ordered Chikwangue (€3) dense fermented cassava bread to go with the sauce - super sour and super unusual. And okra and spinach, all blended up with a silky texture.
