After my second kid was born I went part time 3 days a week and my mom who is newly retired watches her. Since having my second I can’t imagine being a therapist full time again until she’s in school

When he turned 2 I started him in daycare twice a week full days so I work those two full days. The other 2 days I work evenings when my husband gets home, and then I’m off Fridays and weekends!

I took my three months and then I changed from being 4 days a week (6 openings a day so 24 clients a week) to being 2 days a week with 10 openings a day (20 clients a day). My husband is a nurse who works four days a week and my mom is retired so I fortunately haven't needed daycare or anything. 20 clients in two days is exhausting but it works and I get to be home with my son 5 days a week. I chart in the ten minutes between sessions when I'm at work so I don't typically have much left to do at home

I’m with you hardcore! For me, it’s a blessing and a curse to have so much flexibility as a therapist. The days feel sooooo long with being a mom + then also working from home. Also with you on wanting to prioritize the time while they are young and the vomit response to putting them in a program 🤣

We are living the same life lol I have a 10mo, EBF, co sleeping baby girl and I just started my own PP. I work 3-7 three nights a week. Her dad watches her when he gets home from work. It is difficult, but day care makes me wanna 🤢 I feel so guilty being on my phone too. I love being a therapist and have worked hard to get this far in my career so I’m trying to find balance. It is a huge blessing and I wouldn’t change it for the world 🫶🏼 good luck!!

I do 15-20 sessions a week and work part time 10 hours (for the more steady income) at a group home. I put my kids in an in home sitter 2 days a week and work 12 hour days those days and then 2 other evenings. I do a mix of in office and virtual but my husband and I essentially work opposite shifts. Took me about a year to get to this with my first. I’m currently pregnant with my 3rd in 3 years and have a love/hate relationship with the schedule. Soooo blessed to spend time with the kids majority of the week but it’s also very hard to balance being primarily SAHM while also still working a decent amount.

I feel seen! My husband and I both work from home. My 4yo attends a part time daycare and my mom watches our 16 mo at home. So I get a few morning sessions on MW and then I do a few evening sessions M-TH. My schedule is in 3 hour chunks and I miss spending evenings with my husband but I really am glad we can make it work. It truly feels full time, I’m averaging 13-17 sessions a week 🫠

PP Therapist & mom of 2! My toddler goes to a small in-home daycare M-F, my 3mo old joins her Tues-Thursday. I am telehealth only on Tues, that allows me to do laundry and just upkeep around the house between sessions or if I have a break during the day.. Wed/Thurs I’m in office. I only offer sessions 10-4 as we’re still navigating new morning routine and it’s important to me to be home in the evenings with them. You’ll figure it out as you go! My schedule has changed so much throughout the years and I’m so grateful my clients are understanding and flexible with it! One of the things I say during intake is that I’m a mom so there may be times where my kids are sick or I don’t have childcare and I may need to cancel or reschedule. But I try my best to uphold the 24/hr policy, as I expect my clients to do the same for me. Luckily, people are pretty receptive to this. It’s a nice reminder that we’re human and have lives outside of our “office” space ❤️

I work M-Th and Fridays my kids don’t have daycare. It was so hard to get used to putting them in daycare but was so necessary! I still struggle to get notes done because their daycare hours are so filled with me seeing clients there’s not a ton of time for notes/admin work. It’s so hard!! But it did get easier when they started napping better

I have a 14 mo old and work 2.5 days a week with two full days of childcare! We do a nanny share which has worked really well and having someone you trust has made a world of difference for me & mental toll of being away from my son. It’s just hard keeping it together in any schedule as a working mom though!!

I’m a mom and therapist and my son is 2 and I’m about to have my second baby in 2 weeks! When my son was a newborn I was still in CMH and worked only about 2 sessions a day and got help from some family members, then gradually increased to about 4 sessions per day mostly virtual. I opened my own practice when my son was almost 1 and started by working 3-7, then now from 1-7. My husband works from 7am to 12 and has our son for the time when I’m at work. We both don’t have “full time” jobs but it works for us!

This video made me feel really seen lol bc whew I wasn’t ready for the challenge of being a mom and therapist and the challenge it would present! We are still trying and playing with the options to figure it out. THIS is the content we do not talk enough about bc 🫠😮💨.

I appreciate reading these comments. Currently SAHM, with a 1 year old. Not working is sooooo foreign to me. I was career driven was working towards so much when I became pregnant, and it was a really difficult choice to take a pause on my career. Financially we are making it work but I’m seeing some ideas in the comments on how to make it work once I decide to go back to work.

I have a 2 and 4 yo. Prior my MIL watched my children in exchange of living with us rent free. Once she moved out, I had to find my work groove but honestly working 2 days per week is just enough I don’t feel terrible, my kids get some exposure outside of me, and my work schedule is filled enough it is worth the day. I work about 10-16 hours per week. Ive tried a nanny but unfortunately been met with inconsistency so my hubby and I went with a part time pre-K and daycare program which really helps. I’m still adjusting but getting there. They are allotted up to 3 days for part time but im not there yet lol

Just came back from Maternity leave. Telehealth, M-W. 10am,11am, 1pm,2pm and 4pm are the sessions times I am offering. So I can nurse :). Husband works 3 days a week at a hospital. So we will be working opposite of eachother. I was also very ambitious before this.

My husband stays home with the toddler allowing me to work full time at the nonprofit that I love and maintain my private practice. I truthfully feel so lucky.
