They were never right for each other romantically. Igarashi disrespected Koyuki in so many ways, and she was never truly in love with him. They simply weren’t compatible, and their relationship was never going to work out. They both needed that honest conversation to finally let go of their guilt and regrets, and I’m glad they got the closure they deserved. But closure doesn’t mean they belong together, and not every relationship needs to be romanticized. They’re much better off as friends. 🥹
